Bridger Canyon Road Highlights

Relaxing and forested backroad drive from Bozeman towards Bridger Bowl ski area.
Look for moose, deer, and other wildlife in the spacious neighborhoods and meadows along the way.
Short day hike to Fairy Lake at the base of Sacagawea Peak—picnicking, paddling, swimming, wildlife viewing. Amazing views of the base of the peak, popular with day hikers and backcountry skiers.
Continue on past Bridger Bowl and Fairy Lake trailhead to reach the top of the pass, then drop down into the sweeping fields and big skies of Shields River Valley. Road turns into Flathead Creek Road (Hwy 86).

Shields River Valley Highlights

Continue south along this route from Wilsall to Livingston.
Stop by the Bank Vault Bar and Restaurant in Wilsall.
Views of three mountain ranges—Bridger, Crazy, and Absarokas.
Wide-open spaces and solitude—lots of pronghorn antelope!
Small communities of Clyde Park and Wilsall.
 Shields Valley Farmers Market June through August.
 Wilsall Rodeo in June.
Fishing along the Shields River.

Livingston Highlights

Yellowstone Gateway Museum and museum exhibits at the historic Livingston Depot.
Sacajawea Park: river trail for photography and mountain views + Wednesday Night Farmers Market June 3 to September 16 from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Popular restaurants/breweries: 2nd Street Bistro, Gil's Goods, Neptune's Brewery and Restaurant, Katabatic Brewery, Pinky's Cafe (brunch).
