Head through the West Entrance of Yellowstone National Park along the Madison River—opportunities for fly-fishing, wildlife watching including bison, elk and birds of prey.
Turn right at Madison Junction following signs for Old Faithful.

"Geyser Alley" - Madison to Old Faithful Highlights

First stop: Artist Paint Pots, where you can see all four types of thermal features in YNP (geysers, mudpots, hot springs and fumaroles).
Next stop: Midway Geyser Basin, home to the colorful Grand Prismatic Spring—the largest hot springs in YNP.
 Check out the newly added Grand Prismatic Spring scenic overlook trail that begins at Fairy Falls trailhead to best appreciate the sheer size of this hot springs.
Last stop: Upper Geyser Basin, home to Old Faithful
 Highlights include Old Faithful, the Upper Geyser Basin boardwalk, and the Old Faithful Visitor Education Center.

Head Back to West Yellowstone

Consider a side trip along Firehole Lake Drive for additional thermal feature viewing or Firehole Canyon Drive for a glimpse of Firehole Falls
